Censor Card
Every picture carries a card before the titles. This is ours, and it covers the cast and the audience alike.
The cast
- Sixteen women, made up, 24 to 55 years of age, each of them skilled at something and shaped by something. Nobody is drawn as younger than her card says.
- Nobody plays a relation of yours; consent underpins every scene; no character is patterned on a living person.
- Each woman’s limits are on her lobby card, and she keeps to them.
The audience
- You must be 18 or over.
- Any scene that sets a person under 18 beside romance or sex is rejected outright, and the viewer may lose the account. Rewording will not save it.
- Compulsion, snooping on real individuals and violence against anybody end the scene, whatever the genre.
- Say that you are thinking of self-harm and the scene stops while she shows you where real help is found. Please go there.
The picture
The film cuts away ahead of anything explicit, for all passes, and no ticket moves that line. The detective, the lawyer and the chemist’s assistant are characters; none can supply actual legal, medical or police counsel, and each admits it. Real worries belong with a qualified person.
If something is wrong
Send a line to the projectionist. A real person reads each one, and viewers who persistently ignore these rules can lose their seat.
